My Review: We've been using these flash cards for the whole year to help my 6 year old learn to read. This subject is the one he HATES and FIGHTS the most. So as we continue to try to encourage him, and help him see the fun and joy of learning, not just the importance here is what he has told us. He loves these flash cards, and after using them for 10 months he now begs for me to play a little game we created. So here's the game, the rules, and how we play it.
Rules: 4 step process |
Using the back of a card I hide the image so that he focuses first on the letters, then focus on the sounds |
Once he can put the sounds together and say the word and know what he is saying he gets to see the image and write it down |
Here is how well he did just the other day. |
although my kids are older... they still like playing with these flashcards.. its just something about them

ReplyDeleteWould it be helpful if I posted some good flashcard companies? Or do you have some that you like?
DeleteFlash cards were so important in helping my eldest son learn to read. I had actually made my own because I could not find something like this. Such a great learning product

DeleteFLASH CARDS! What a great idea! My niece is having some trouble with reading, by trouble I mean that she too seems disinterested in it. Perhaps this is a good solution. Also I had no idea Playskool had flash card games, good to know!
